Fans are supporting Reed's artist funding campaign already. Below is a testimonial from a fan that selected the "Private Show" option from the campaign. Reed loved doing it and hopes to play more private shows with fans.
"Reed was the featured performer at our 20th wedding anniversary party. If you are a fan of his you are aware of his talent and the beauty of his songs. However, the striking aspect of his performance in this more intimate setting was how well he connected to the audience. This was especially notable in light of the fact that many there had never heard his music before. Yet after the very first song the crowd broke into a raucous round of spontaneous applause and hung on his every word for the remainder of the performance. Many noted how he set just the right tone for our celebration and as we look back on the event it is clearly the portion of that evening that we will remember long after other memories fade. We also have the added bonus of an expanded circle of friends to share our love of his music with and every time we listen to songs he performed that evening it brings back a rush of pleasant memories. While we used the "excuse" of this celebration to hold a private show I think his participation would be equally impactful for any gathering of friends."
The New Record: Once an Ocean
"He sings like he feels every note... Each song tells a story,
all of which he relates astonishingly well." - The Boston Globe
Reed Foehl’s new record Once an Ocean pulls together a touch of country folk and edgy roots rock with the bold honesty intrinsic to modern songwriting – Foehl’s landscape of lush tones and solid songs touches the raw truth of love and tragedy, without sinking into sacharinne sentimentally or cold remove. Once an Ocean features 10 new songs carved from the full range of human emotion.
This new release captures Foehl’s captivating performance and alluring, enduring songwriting blended with masterful accompaniment and seamless production. Jefferson Hamer, with whom Foehl frequently performs, brings an untamed edge, while Raham’s drumming and sound engineering add groove and depth. Ford’s breathy, bluesy voice and Klein’s essential banjo, harmonica, and singing that hooked The Be Good Tanyas’ fans complete the rich musical ingredients – elements of country, indie pop and folk-rock – in a perfectly balanced mix.
A Boston native based in Colorado since 1989, Foehl’s third solo release comes on the heels of his acclaimed Stoned Beautiful, a departure from the jam-oriented repertoire of his band Acoustic Junction and his first solo release, Spark.
Completed after just three days, Stoned Beautiful presented a no-frills trip “back to the barn” with simple, powerful, direct compositions that caught the attention of new fans nationwide through commercial radio airplay and placements for television.
Foehl’s sound has expanded from these simple roots with co- producers Raham and Hamer, and Once an Ocean reveals a natural, comfortable connection among these creative forces. “I still believe in simple, spirited music made by people together in a room, and the power of a song that transcends the human condition.”
About AUDIENCE!
I am excited to announce the launch of my new affiliation with AUDIENCE, an artist cooperative of talented musicians and passionate music fans committed to changing the way that the music business works. I am honored to be working in concert with several talented artists to make this happen.
The goal is to create an artist co-op that enables musicians to raise the funding we need to create our music while allowing us to retain ownership and higher percentage of the revenue from the sale of our art. Also, I want to have a closer relationship with people like you who have always appreciated my work. My new site will be an intimate place where I can share what I'm up to and allow us to stay more closely connected.
AUDIENCE provides oversight for the artists, providing funds directly to record studios and other sources that the band is using to record and tour. It all happens according to a pre-determined artist plan that you can feel good about supporting.
